I'm back in real time.......

Well I'm back online.  Actually we were back online on Saturday night - but GAH!!  exhaustion ya know???

The move couldn't have gone better - the alarm system was moved without a hitch... the internet went as smoothly.  Saturday morning both my girls showed up with husbands and kids (kids are teenagers) and my lord did they all work!!!

The girls and I came to the house while the movers loaded the big stuff and the men folk loaded all the boxes.  It was a whirl wind...... at one point eldest daughter sent me to the living room and told me to sit!  I was so close to tears all day....... stress is a wonderful thing.

You wouldn't believe it - they started loading the trucks at 9:30 and by 2pm we were eating lunch!!! My girls worked hard to empty boxes - especially the kitchen and get it pulled together.    Eldest daughter brought us a cake to celebrate.............

Both Sir Steve and I were overwhelmed with their help / love.  Honestly this has to be the best move ever!

Sunday was spent opening boxes and sorting things out..... we got our room almost 75% pulled together... and the kitchen is about 90% together... the den is coming along... BUT - we spent most of the day working on the lil one's room.... so it would be ready for her to unpack when she got home mid afternoon.  She has been talking about wanting a 't'ween bedroom' ever since we knew we were moving........ it was her one big wish!

We all worked together emptying her boxes and hanging pictures and sorting out books and toys..... and her room is complete!!

Here's the before shot of her room

And here it is now..........

She announced she got her wish - a t'ween bedroom!  and SHE LOVED IT !!!

Sir Steve decided to take today off so we can get more of the house finished.... stay tuned for more "home corners".

2 Days to Go.......

We're down to the last days....... and last boxes.. and the last odds and ends....

Our security system was moved yesterday without a hitch!!  YAY!!  maybe it's an omen for good things?

As of midnight tonite we will be without internet and without TV..... tomorrow they are (supposedly) moving our internet to the new house - which means I should have TV and internet on the weekend....... that is if everything goes according to plan....

I have queued up  posts for Saturday AND Sunday - but promise I'll pop in over the weekend -  if everything goes according to plan

Pink Shirt Day

I'm assuming everyone knows about Pink Shirt Day and the history behind it...5 years ago - my first Pink shirt day with the lil one........ I remember Sir Steve running out to "Loblaws" the night before Pink Shirt Day to buy the lil one a pink shirt.  Since then we have made sure we have had a pink shirt for her to wear.  She is quite the advocate for Anti Bullying........... which makes us both very proud.

This year my eldest daughter bought herself a 'cricut'

I had no idea what this machine was - or what it could do.  She has made some gorgeous one of kind cards - got one for my birthday and one for Christmas.  BUT apparently there is a whole slew of stuff you can make with this machine.  And she has a gift list as long as your arm filled with accessories she needs/wants.

She asked me a couple of weeks ago if we would like her to make a 'one of a kind' pink shirt for the lil one.  Of course we would!!  I had no idea what it would look like - kinda figured it would be a pink tshirt with an iron on transfer.  Imagine my surprise when she gave it to us............ it isn't an iron on transfer - at least not like the ones you usually see.  The lil one was absolutely delighted with her Pink Shirt tshirt..... made especially for her!  by her aunt!!  She said she couldn't wait to show her teacher and tell him about Auntie L making it just for her!!

(not only is she the poster child for anti-bullying she's also amazingly appreciative of gifts !!)

Anyway ..........

Today - Pink Shirt Day - was already booked to be a busy day - the alarm company was coming in this morning to take out the alarm system and move it to the new house.  Yesterday we had a major ice storm and had received about 1/2 inch of ice

Today we are supposed to get more freezing rain........... and no school buses - which means Sir Steve is driving the lil one to and from school - le sigh.

The technician texted us at 5:00 am to say he would be here in 2 hours!

Then the sump pump (remember our flooded basement?) had been running all night.  We know that cause it's so noisy it kept waking us up.  So I decided to take a peak downstairs and make sure everything was dry - well relatively dry.  It wasn't!  we have a flood again in the basement!!  I need this? now??!!

The tech showed up at 7:30am............. and by 7:45 he was ready to move on to the new house..... Sir Steve met him there... then came home and got the lil one.  I had almost forgotten her in all the confusion!!  She came out of her bedroom sporting her new pink tshirt looking so proud.  The one calming aspect to my day...... the lil one sporting her new tshirt.............

The new alarm is going in at the new house........ apparently the new landlord is sending  a plumber to look at the flooding...........

How many more days till we move?? 3 more days........... I can do this !!

4 Days

Last 4 days before the move........ and we're pretty much ready.........

well except for all the last minute things - like taking the beds apart - packing the toothbrushes and towels and the coat hooks and the lights and the fridge and the freezer and and and........... (taking big breath)

Right now ..... and for the next 4 days it will be a day of 'lasts' .... like today - I'm doing the last load of laundry in this house...... am packing up the laundry supplies...... last week I did my last grocery shopping at the local small grocery store..... I'll be running to our local dollar store today for my last time........ we are saying our goodbyes to our neighbours - they were good neighbours and I will miss them.

And I realize - for the first time in my life - I am feeling sad about leaving this home... I'm usually much more pragmatic about moving - it's just a building - we make the home - etc etc....... but this time? I just feel a little sad.

Food Adventures

One thing that happens when you're moving is trying to empty the freezers - yes freezerS ... we have 2 of them.  Last week I suggested to Sir Steve that I would make 'cooked' breakfast on Monday (it's a holiday here).... eggs and bacon.

On Saturday I took the bacon out of the freezer..... On Sunday I remembered the promised 'cooked' breakfast...... Today I completely forgot the 'cooked' breakfast and Sir Steve had to remind me......... GAH!!!

I dashed off to the kitchen......... and skidded to a halt.  I have packed the whole kitchen!!!  How the devil was I supposed to make bacon and eggs???? I had a fry pan - milk - bacon and eggs..... but no utensils ....... GAH!  I altered the menu slightly - scrambled eggs would work right?? EXCEPT I didn't have a bowl............ improvise!  I did have a coffee cup.............

Breakfast got cooked................

(and yes we're using paper plates !  AND for those of you wondering - if I packed the whole kitchen - what we're gonna eat this week........ we are ordering chinese food tomorrow.  We're gonna order our usual 4 different dishes that usually feeds us for 3 meals....... Tuesday to Thursday 'cause Friday Sir Steve is taking me out to our favourite - only for special occasions - restaurant.)

Then yesterday when Sir Steve was packing up his cupboard/night stand he discovered a Christmas gift for me that he had forgotten about..........

My absolute favourite chocolate!!  I broke it open yesterday and indulged...........

Then this morning Sir Steve and I went outside for a smoke.  When we came back in this is what I saw.............

The dog who NEVER steals food!!  decided she just had to have MY peanut butter cup!!!

Moving!!!!!!!!!  who knew it would be such an 'adventure'..........

Which One are You?

I think we all know someone from each category.... I know I do!  One person jumps out from my memory - this person could only see the thorns...... I often thought about how unhappy they were..... and it made me sad.

I think I am more the wildflower and less the thorns - at least I try to see the wildflowers more..........

Which one are you?

Languishing......

I am craving..... aching ... spoiling for... hankering... yearning... wanting and desiring..........

FOR?

some adult time..... sexy spanky adult time.

And know what makes it worse?? Every single weekend we go to the house - we're cleaning and organising...... Sir Steve is putting shelves up in the laundry cupboard.. hanging curtain rods.. hanging blinds.... every single time I go upstairs my fantasies kick in... big time...

See this...........

it's where I envision being bent over  - holding on to the wooden posts - or tied to them.... the door right beside it is where the toys will be hung (well on the inside of the door)

My knees go weak .... I dream .... oh how I dream.. and count down the weeks - then the days till we are living there........

BUT last weekend I didn't even notice the designated spanking area (well in my world it is the spanking area) ..... I didn't let my brain go there.. 'cause .. well .. what if it doesn't turn out the way Sir Steve has said it would? What if it is just a pipe dream that never comes true.

It's been so long since we had sexy adult time.....

I am yearning....... craving...... aching...... desiring... wanting....

I am languishing............

Adding some Green.......

Our blogger friend Fondles has been posting about her plants....... and I have to admit to being a little bit envious.  In the last 10 years or so I have had no success keeping any plants alive.  After some reflection I came to the conclusion it was lack of good sunlight in my homes.  Best example - my Christmas cactus hasn't bloomed in forever!!  And I used to have the most beautiful Christmas cactus - it would bloom for Christmas - some years keeping those blooms till almost Easter and other years blooming again in time for Easter.

In our new home we have windows facing every single direction there is... got us some north facing windows, south facing, east facing and west facing.  I have hopes - high hopes - of being able to fill our home with beautiful plants.

This past weekend the 3 plants I have - a peace lily that does bloom once a year... my sickly Christmas cactus and my miniature poinsettia - were moved to the new house and are in the west facing window (until I figure out which window they would prefer.)

When Sir Steve and I were out in the shops - I came across a jasmine plant.  I love the scent from the jasmine!  Have jasmine essential oils cause they just make me feel happy.   I couldn't resist it.  Trust me when I say the money could well have been spent on stuff we HAVE to have for this move...... but I splurged and bought it - along with a pretty pot to put it in.

When we got home I popped it into the new pot .... gave it a good drink ... and placed it in the west facing kitchen window.  In no time at all the scent from the flowers had filled the kitchen.... even Sir Steve commented on it.

My dream is to keep my jasmine plant alive ........ and blooming!!  I want to add more plants..... and more plants...... and MORE!!!  ("please Sir - may I have some more?") Sir Steve mentioned he'd like a money plant...

I'm thinking it might be the next purchase  - mainly cause it's readily available here.  It is supposed to bring peace and harmony to the home.

I've got my fingers crossed that I'll have success with my new project/hobby...

and not land up like this...........

Decisions Decisions

I think we finally decided on new bedroom curtains.  You wouldn't believe how many curtains we looked at - both on line and in the shops.... (yes I actually went into a shop on the weekend!)

We found a really nice set at the shops... but not in the size we needed.  It was suggested they might have our size online.  They didn't.  AND I was so disappointed - they were exactly what we wanted.  So back to Amazon... and eureka!  I found a set that we both liked.

And when I looked  at the options to find the right size - they had them in sage green.  OHHHHHHH we loved them.. so I decided to order 3 sets of the sage green.

Fortunately before hitting the order button I double checked the price....... WTF??!!  The sage curtains were 3x more expensive than the chocolate brown.  That is ridiculous!  Same curtain different colour and that warrants charging 3x more??!!  I don't think so!  So I ordered the brown ones and we'll be happy with them.....

You can just see a pattern on the curtains above.... here's a close up of the pattern.........

I think we're gonna like them.  And on a positive note - being a dark colour they will block out more sunlight then the light sage green ones.  So - yeah - maybe I'll sleep a little later.

Our dog gets so excited when we pack the car on Saturday mornings... yesterday she was nearly turning herself inside out to get to the new house.  She bounced into the house - tail wagging like mad - and she ran from room to room coming back to us 'talking' and 'talking'.

She has a new BIG bone on her new BIG bed in her  new BIG house.  I think we're all gonna settle in just fine.

Just 2 more weeks until moving day..............
