Exciting Weekend?

We had a quiet-ish weekend planned.......... a quick run to Quebec Saturday morning to pick up cigarettes and then at home vegging......... (with me hoping for some fun adult time)

It all started off according to plan - Sir Steve even suggested before we hit the highway that we pop into a new pastry shop and pick up a couple of fresh cinnamon buns for breakfast on Sunday.  BUT as we got on the highway to head home from Quebec the car started vibrating.. and warning lights started flashing on the dash.

Immediately my panic button activated.   Sir Steve had me pull the owner's manual out of the glove box and check out the warning lights...... yup the car definitely needed to go to the garage..... BUT we were an hour from home!! Sir Steve opted for trying to limp home.  As soon as we could we got off the highway and took the old 2 lane highway the rest of the way.  I did not breath until we pulled into our driveway.

The car is home and I am guessing Monday it will be going into the shop..... le sigh.. more unplanned expense - colour me sad.

Thanks to that lil 'adventure' the weekend was very quiet......... and no fun adult time.  Ahhhh well - there's always next weekend right??

  1. Ugh, car troubles suck, and are expensive! Sorry your weekend plans were interrupted but glad you managed to get back home ok.

Crossing fingers the car is repaired quickly and that it isn't too dire or expensive.

  2. We just had car troubles and quite expensive to have it fixed. Hope the garage can fix it quickly and not cost too much.

  3. It was fate! The two-lane highway (methinks Hwy 2?) is so much more scenic. I always use it cuz I'm a wimp on the 401.

I hope the car trouble doesn't cost too much.

    1. IF we're not in a hurry to get somewhere I love old hwy 2 (yes it was the 2) but trust me when the car is shaking and shuddering the only thing I was thinking was "please please let us get home safe and sound" :)

  4. I'm kinda glad i don't have a car. BIKSS had some car trouble last year and it really did cost quite a bit having it in the workshop - twice!

I hope it gets sorted out soon with minimum fuss.

Good luck. *sending good vibes.. or wait, NO VIBES, don't want more shuddering in the car!*

We should know about the car today -- Sir Steve just left to take it to the garage (fingers crossed it will limp its way there)

  5. So glad you got home safe and sound - a very scary situation. But I'm very sorry about the loss of the cinnamon buns and the adult time.

  6. Frustrating and scary for sure Morningstar, but Hwy 2 is so lovely! At least you had pretty things to look at!

Hermoine is right, it was fate. Fun things happen. I did a car trip down to the states (heading to friends in NJ). Had car issues after we crossed the border so we stopped for the night and we were going to turn around and limp home. However, we stopped at the hotel bar before bed and do you know who we met? The SNOWBIRDS!!! Talked for hours with them.

Life is good when trouble brews!

    p.s. I hope it isn't too expensive!

    3. me too glad we got home safe and sound... and because of the fiasco this weekend - believe it or not - I have booked my car in for a service visit..... mainly cause in a couple of weeks we are going to go visit with Sir Steve's parents (long story) and I want to make sure my car will not act up for the journey

  7. ohhh windy you made me chuckle .... no pastry store - no party stores here in our lil town... maybe that would help my morale IF we did a road trip to a 'party' store... le sigh.

  8. sorry about your car, and more so that the fix is going to be expensive, and it's not something you can really put off doing if you need it, unlike a dishwasher for example.
