Update

I haven't done a home schooling update in forever!!  If you remember - back in the winter - Sir Steve made the decision to work from home 3 days a week to help out with the home schooling (and the attitude!)  Things have been going much better for me  since then.

We were doing extra curriculars in the form of  cooking once a week...... BUT she has lost total interest in that ......... she had been working with her 3D pen but she has lost interest in that........ once spring hit and she could get out on her bike - she was biking for a couple of hours every day - I was having to 'drag' her in around 4:30pm...... but she has lost interest in that too and barely spends 30 minutes on her bike.

OMG her attitude!!  some days she's 8 going on 18 - other days she's just a lovable 8 year old - le sigh - that's not to say she's not lovable all the time - cause she is - it's just harder to find the lovable parts then.  example - the other morning she announced that she thought she was old enough to make food decisions for herself - are we running a restaurant around here???

AND her school work ........ the thing that frustrates me the most - some days the quality of work she turns out boggles my mind!  it's nearly perfect......... THEN other days she does the bare minimum and it's awful ......... We don't let her get away with it - she has to go back and redo it .......... WHY doesn't she just do it right the first time???

Yesterday Sir Steve received his first shot - we'll both be fully vaccinated by September............. come hell or high water the lil one will be back in school - my light at the end of the tunnel.......... SCHOOL! YAY!! All we have to do is hang on for the last 5 weeks of this year.......... 25 more school days!!  double YAY!!

  1. Hi Morningstar,

I take my hat off to everyone who has been homeschooling. That's great news Sir Steve having his first shot.

  2. She does sound like a very normal 8 year-old. My daughter is through teaching on May 28. But will be starting back mid-August. I'm glad Sir Steve is able to be there more and it's no all on you.

  3. WHY doesn't she just do it right the first time???

Because she's an 8 year old. Lol. Not to mention she's probably totally done with this online crap as well. My niece is a mother of 3 and teaches second grade- trust me everything you have said about Sir Steve's daughter this year is very typical especially for the last 12onths. It's just as hard on them as it is on the parents and teachers not being in school. Not to mention kids get squirrely when the nice weather starts pandemic or not when it comes to school. Lol

  4. Oh how I hear you! Today, I spent the class with my student. They have had 3 periods to work on their culminating task. I checked today, NOTHING! I literally sit there while the student does the work. I have to actually be on the document to ensure it gets done! (Banging head against the wall)

As for vaccines, my little one (not so little) is supposed to get both shots this summer. PLEASE oh please let that happen! If so, we will have a fully vaxxed house here by August.

I am so excited for both of us! It could be a great summer!!!!

  5. Were there not times, when you taught a whole classroom full and thought "Would it not be easier if there was only one kid at a time?". OOOW that was naughty of me :)

    1. actually Prefectdt - no - never... it is much easier with a full class for some reason - at least for me.
AND to be truthful - once May came around teaching became much more difficult - the kiddies could see summer just round the corner...and most of them checked out earlier...

Having said all that yeah I know her behaviour is normal - and my reactions are normal.. and I guess this is just life right?? (grinning)

  6. I know I would have hated to teach me as a kid. I was such a drifty dreamer, it was a nightmare holding my attention
