It's been awhile since we did a 'roll call'.......
My spirits are a little bit higher... camping last weekend certainly helped... so is the weather - sunny and warmer .... BUT our covid numbers are definitely adding to my better mood.. higher spirits. Provincially they have been dropping. What was it ....... a month ago ?? ... we were at 3000 a day... and yesterday we had just over 1000 !!! In our lil city we had been averaging over 15 cases a day... and now we're down to just 1 or 2 a day - and we've even had a couple of 0 case days. YAY!!
I am hoping in a week or 2 we will be able to travel to Quebec to pick up some cigarettes and maybe even see my youngest daughter - outside ..... but still ! haven't seen her in over 2 months now. We've all had one shot so partially immunized. Tomorrow friends of Sir Steve are dropping by for a visit on the front deck. Haven't seen them since before all this started!!
Now it's your turn .... how are things in your little corner of the world???
Tentatively great. In out county for this month we've had 2 new cases and 0 deaths. I'm seeing fewer and fewer masks - mine being one of the few. We don't have to wear them if we're fully vaccinated. But there are much fewer screaming incidents on either side now and that's always good. Glad to hear you're improving.
ReplyDeleteyeah well I've been jealous of our American neighbours for a while - soooo many fully vaccinated !! I think I'll be wearing my mask for sometime after this .... it's my safety blanket I think
DeleteNo too bad in our little corner of the UK. The Indian variant in other parts are rising. As of today, across the UK we have had reported 3,542 new cases and 3 quarters of those tested positive are from the Indian variant.
ReplyDeleteHope your numbers stay low.
Love,
Ronnie
xx
The Indian variant worries me most - read today that the incubation period for it is only 24 hours....
DeleteI have my fingers crossed that more people get vaccinated cause I think that's really the only way through this.
Still hanging in. I waiting patiently for summer....but I have no patience. Still leading our region for new cases. Sigh. But at least we all have one shot in so that is good.
ReplyDeleteCan we stop now?
Boo
I read something encouraging this morning - that one shot seems to be giving 95% immunity !! BUT it does seem for every one bit of good news there are 2 bits of bad ...... le sigh - so yeah can we just stop now!?
DeleteBelgium is surviving and although I am frightened of saying it, in case I jinks things, I am cautiously hopeful about our present situation. There may be a report post soon
ReplyDeletePrefectdt
I'll keep my fingers crossed that things keep on improving .......... AND you get to go camping!!
Deleteglad you popped in Windy - been wondering about you :)
ReplyDeleteRonnie gave the numbers for the UK as a whole so I won't repeat that, but yeah, the Indian variant is worrying. Although my specific area is okay at present I live closeish to an area with rising numbers. Have had both vaccinations, thankfully, but still - would rather not see the numbers go back up again as it'll lead to further lockdowns. Right now the govt is dangling normality in front of people, that everything will be open this summer. I think thats a huge mistake, because if they do need to lock down again then its going to cause immense damage. But in my own little part of the world? Things are good. seeing my family this weekend, since they've been vaccinated too, the weather is getting better (after nothing but rain in May!), so all in all, it's looking up. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that for the most part things are looking better in your corner of the world keth... today we are hearing that they MAY be moving up the timeline for 2nd shots here...that would be a good thing!! stay safe keth :)
Deleteooh, I will keep praying for the timeline to be moved up for you! Yes, it would be a good thing - hopefully we can get everyone in the world vaccinated soon!
DeleteAny cases here are in managed isolation and it continues to be business as usual. However, I am holding my breath as we now have travel between Australia and NZ without quarantine and Victoria in Australia is now in the middle of an outbreak.
ReplyDeleteOur Government quickly stopped travel temporarily between Victoria and here but people scrambled to get here before the ban took effect plus there's those who jump States within Australia then try and fly here.
Hugs
Roz
ohhhhhhhhhh Roz and I was hoping you guys still had this beat.... doesn't it infuriate you when folks break the rules and risk so many other's health??
DeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed that you folks can contain the virus
I don't want to tempt fate, but so far we are still covid free, apart from cases in managed isolation who have recently arrived. No cases have hit the fan as a result of recent arrivals from Victoria...yet! Fingers crossed! The Government have put extra precautions in place and requirements on those who have recently arrived from Victoria. They really have handled the whole situation well from the get go.
DeleteWe had a stretch of single digits and zeros... then a case here and a case there and suddenly clusters were forming in the airport and schools. And now we're on our second "semi lockdown", a year after our first, but at the most recent press briefing the minister did say numbers from this second wave are steadily falling, so after the remaining 2 weeks of lockdown are up, we should be back to where we were 2 weeks ago. I'm keeping fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteHappy dance here too. We have had some zero days for new cases too, and active cases are decreasing. We are taking patients from other cities here too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Hermione
