Sir Steve got a phone call from his eldest daughter yesterday afternoon......
She was in hospital in labour

We didn't even know she was pregnant
Apparently she didn't know she was pregnant
She gave birth at 6:30 pm to a 4lb little girl.
We arrived at the hospital at 6:45
Grandpa Sir Steve got to hold his first grandchild
This baby's mother has nothing - NOTHING - for this baby
no diapers, no clothing, no crib, no car seat
NOTHING
She is being discharged today
Life just got very complicated

ReplyDeleteWow! What a huge shock and surprise to all! You do hear of wonen giving birth without even knowing they were pregnant, but I don't know how you couldn't know.
Such a wonderful surprise though, she is gorgeous. It certainly is going to be a busy time! Congratulations to the new parents and grandparents:)

4 lb that's like only 2 kilos. What a tiny baby. I hope that this littlest one is healthy, happy and stays that way. I'm sure you will give us progress reports on her and her family. I'll look forward to that. Congratulations to all there.

If the mother didn't know she was pregnant (it happens!) than ehe couldn't have made any preparations ahead of time. I have a hunch that you and Sir Steve will jump right in to help.
ReplyDeleteMy aunt was an unexpected baby. Her mom was obese, and her dad (my grandfather) came home to find mom lying on the floor with a newborn beside her.

Impressive, scary and wonderful! That one way to get a grandchild without having to worry during the pregnancy. Hope everyone is doing well.
