Bleh!

i am home today.... sniffling and sneezing and feeling like something the cat dragged in.

Yeah yeah it's just a cold ............ BUT.. i still feel like crap.

AND NO!  i am not always sick - i can hear you whispering behind my back.. yeah i can !!!

I think it was yesterday i researched the common cold....
Did you know that adults get 2 - 4 colds a year??
Did you know that the reason one doesn't build up any immunity to colds is because there are literally hundreds of cold viruses???
Did you know that children can catch as many as 12 colds a year????
Did you know that stress and lack of sleep lower your immunity and open you up to catching one of those hundreds of cold viruses???

So let's see now......
last week - stress levels high due to tax season......
sleep deprivation due to the damn 'beep beep beeps' in the middle of the night
Add to that
hundreds of kids hugging me - using my phone - running around coughing and sneezing on me

So yeah I got a cold.

I also discovered that sea salt nose spray doesn't work worth a damn......... AND despite their advertising - you can ( I DID) get a rebound reaction.  Cold pills make me sleep  - even the ones that claim they don't make you drowsy. (which isn't all bad - i take them at bedtime - which helps me get 3 or 4 hours of straight sleep) Tissues with the "lotion" in them still make my nose red and sore.

so ........ bleh !!! to colds and viruses and germ factories.

  1. I didn't get sick at all until I had a child. With you being a teacher I am surprised you aren't sick every single day. Stay strong and drink lots of soup and water! Hope you feel better soon.

  2. buttern rum vicks on the chest and a good old fashion sweat session under blankets or in a sweat lodge then through your self in new fallen snow. This won't really cure you but in the nude it would look funny . lmao!! All kidding aside get well soon .

  3. Whisky hot water and honey. Does absolutely nothing to help with the cold symptoms but enough of them stops you from caring that you have a cold.

  4. OK, so I had a "teacher bug" about 3 weeks ago. Kept me down for 5 days, and then I coughed my head off for another couple of weeks. Some (admittedly unsolicited) advice:

    1) See a doctor. I know that can be dicey up there in the Great White North, but the doc I saw told me that these viruses this year are inclined to go very quickly to pneumonia. So.

    2) Try a product called Wellness Formula (available on Amazon). The capsules taste like grass, but I swear it made me feel better, and (while taking the stuff)Tom did not catch it in spite of significant exposure.

    3) Rest, lots of fluids, hot tea, and chicken soup -- just like my grandmother would have recommended.

    Gentle hugs,

Figured you were really under the weather when no morning blog showed up. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Besides all the stress etc you mentioned don't forget the days of crazy shopping the week before.

Love the home remedies... nothing works but the passing of time. UGH!

    Get well
