OMG!

Remember yesterday I told you the lil one's mother/family had a 'cold'??? and we told them they had to test the lil one before they brought her home to us???

Welllllll

we heard this morning that the lil one tested positive!  My stomach dropped (so did Sir Steve's).  We're so worried about the lil one.... more about how much emotional support she'll get from them.  She has been so worried about getting covid and now she has it.  She is going to phone us at lunch time..... we'll know more then.

I counted backwards....... and pinned down when they got it.  Over the Christmas weekend they socialized - big time.  Had their daughter from Quebec visit - and she hasn't followed one of the restrictions since the start of this..... and we're not even sure if she is vaccinated.  The whole damn family went to visit / stay over night at another family's house.  3 days after this socialization the lil one's mother/family came down with a cold.  Then 3 days after they came down with it the lil one tested positive and has a sore throat.  (the lil one wasn't at the family celebration)  The one thing that has always made my blood boil is that the family has never believed the rules apply to them - not just with covid but with any rule that might interfere with their life.

OMG the mother just contacted me and asked if she had to sit beside her for the home schooling??!!  OR could the mother watch TV........ le sigh.  The lil one will be at a table in the living room - do they really thing she's gonna focus on school work with the TV going??? GAH!!!!    god give me strength!

  1. Colour me NOT surprised - I remember when things were really bad, they went to Montreal and visited family and told the little one to LIE to you!! So totally expected. I feel bad for the littlegirl - I would absolutely contact the school though and update them on the state of affairs! Unbelievable that her MOTHER has no friggin CLUE how to help her child with school - and yeah, NO MUM - NO TV WHILE THE CHILD IS IN SCHOOL!!

    1. oh selkie - I love hearing from you - of everyone you DO get how frustrated angry this family makes me. I contacted the school immediately - trust me!! and she won't be allowed to come home to us until she tests negative. no way I want to run any chance of getting this!!!

I can't wait to talk to her at noon. I just checked and it appears she isn't online!!! :(

  2. Further, she CLEARLY LIED to you about "testing negative" and only had to admit it I assume when you said you wanted to see the negative test results!

  3. Oh gosh Morningstar, I am not surprised either given the actions of the mother and family through the pandemic. I too do feel for the lil one, I imagine she must be a little frightened by this. I'm so sorry to hear this.

You and Sir Steve must be so worried. She can't come home to you but at the same time you know she is likely not to get the proper physical care or emotional support she needs while she is sick from her mother. Not to mention home schooling is bound not to happen, if she's up to it.

I guess all you can do is keep in regular contact and try and keep abreast of the situation there.

    1. Roz - she called us at noon - and her voice sounded thick - but she said she was ok.. she had been doing her schooling (surprise surprise!) We can only hope it's nothing worse than a bad cold... and that her immunity will be strong after having it.

  4. I'm so sorry the little one tested positive. That 'mother' is a very stupid person. Good grief. Is she on drugs? How could somebody be so ignorant about how to help a little bitty child with homework and to not have distractions during that time? How in the heck did Sir Steve have a relationship back then with that idiot? GEEZE.

I'm glad you got to hear her voice and talk to her. I hope she feels better soon. Glad for the tests so that she doesn't pass it to you and SS.

Hang in there! I'll be praying for the little one! Hugs, Windy

    1. Windy - the level of the mother's stupidity shocks me..... and let's just say Sir Steve wasn't thinking with the right head way back when.

Fortunately - even though she is at mom's I can keep track of her activity (like 'talking' during class time - grinning) from here.

With any luck she'll be home with us in 5 days.. keep your fingers crossed for us - 5 days!

  5. OMG! That is just Awesome (can you hear the sarcasm dripping from my voice??!!)

That poor lil one. I am so sorry she was stuck with stupid family. I mean, how does mother not know how to homeschool???? Have the tv on? Really????? Stupid thy name is lil one's mother.

I hope it is "mild" and more of an inconvenience for lil one.

There are lots of ways to fix stupid....unfortunately none of them are legal.

Sigh. I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

  6. “the family has never believed the rules apply to them - not just with covid but with any rule that might interfere with their life.” Unfortunately, there seems to be a hell of a lot of people in the world, who think like this and they do my head in.

Omicron infections here in Belgium have been shown to effect the young more than the other variants. Fortunately, there have yet to be any of the younger generations committed to ICUs, as Omicron does not appear to be that severe, so far. I hope that the youngster recovers soon.

  7. Hugs, Morningstar, I know this is making your momma heart so heavy. Hopefully, your phone visit goes well and your sweet baby has a very mild case. I'm sure you thought of this already, but make sure they show you all the results, don't just take their word for it.

  8. Our family probably picked it up while taking grandson to play in hockey games all over their area. Then they came to visit here, and Ron's ex took grandson to play with a friend's grandchildren. So when they all got "colds" and tested positive, that put an end to ex's friend's Christmas celebrations too. Some people are so entitled and selfish - AARGH! At least they had the sense to tell us, and cancelled our plans to see them.

You both must be terribly worried about lil one, who is an unfortunate victim in all this. I was wondering, how will her home-schooling be affected by your upcoming move? Will she carry on at the present school assuming it is still online?

    1. Actually no Hermione - her school is over capacity so she has to change schools.... which threw her for a loop. Even if we moved across the street she'd have to change schools - that's how full her school is.....

BUT on the plus side the school she is going to go to is small like this school and has the same educational philosophy which pleases me.

  9. Well crap! I wouldn't be as worried about the schooling as much as I would be the lack of emotional support. I'll be glad when she's well and back with real adults.

  10. I can't believe it, well I can because you are telling me it. I do hope the lil one has only a mild case and can home to you soon.
