Ok - so I need to vent........ you can skip today I won't mind.. .BUT I really need to get this out before I burst!!
Apparently the lil one's mother was tooooooo sick to take care of her this weekend - so mother stayed in town and the lil one went with the grandparents to the campsite. What did mother have?? fever ?? vomiting?? some exotic disease??
NOPE
she had her period.
REALLY??!! her period??!!!
GOD - I went through cancer treatments and only missed one day of work !!! I had what 30+ years of periods and never missed a day of work or needed someone to take care of my children......... GAH!!!!
So Sir Steve just sent her a message and said from now on - let us know when she's too sick to take care of her daughter and we'll keep her.
AND this woman wants her full time at best OR one week on one week off??? really??!!
I think my head may explode
That is one of my biggest pet peeves! I have no patience for people that use their periods as an excuse for getting out of anything, or an excuse for bitchy behavior. That being said, I know some women can have a horrid time every month. My sister would get hit so bad that she'd be lay on the floor (as an adult) crying... but guess what. She never missed a day of work for it. She sucked it up and did what she had to do.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine the impression she is making on the lil one before she has her first period?? talk about scaring the hell out of her !! I mean yes it can hurt - but you aren't gonna die from it... ya know??? GAH!!
DeleteNSAIDs work wonders. And a couple of doses every month on heavy days aren't going to kill you. Tsk. What a wimp!
ReplyDeletetruthfully I don't know what NSAID is Fondles? I know there were months I had to take Advil or some anti inflammatory to help with the cramps but it was never an excuse NOT to 'adult'. It really bugs me!
DeleteNon-steroidal anti inflammatory drug....which is Advil.
DeleteThanks Boosghost2. Over here we use Naproxen, Diclofenac, Etoricoxib, Celecoxib, Ibuprofen (aka Advil)... there are TONS and not all of them even require a prescription, despite how regulated we are over here re: medications. Heck, lots of women just grab some paracetamol (aka acetaminophen) and go to school / work.
DeleteThat would have been a great excuse - if the mother had been 12 or 13 years old, but at her age? Someone need to tell her, 'Buckle up Buttercup!' We had a pregnant teacher once who seemed to feel she needed at least a half day off if the baby kicked. Some people are just idiots and you're tangled up with one.
ReplyDeleteLOL love the teacher story!! ain't I lucky? being tangled up with an idiot?? ahh well.... I'll just keep on truckin'
DeleteDrama much???? Please! The get over yourself award goes to???? lil' one's mom!!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you found a safe place to vent....you know, with the real women of the world who don't take a day off normally because of their periods.
Oh, wait, does that mean when I miscarried, I couldn't have sent my kid somewhere else? Oh wait NO!!!!! Because I am a mom, and we carry on through EVERYTHING!
A thoroughly annoyed
Boo
On this subject I just feel too inexperienced to be able to offer a reasonable opinion, either way
ReplyDeletePrefectdt
Ugh, I think everyone above has said it. Not sure having a period is reason enough to not care for your own child.
ReplyDeleteHugs

I know she is a drama queen so have a feeling this is more of the same - but some women DO have huge issues. My 2nd daughter has fibroids and develops serious uterine cysts - she has bled so badly some months that she has ended up in hospital - and she most definitely has a HUGE work ethic - so doubt this is the case here but there are some individuals who do have health issues related to their periods!
ReplyDeleteThank you for saying something. I have been away from blogland for a while and when I decided to return I was quite upset by the bashing going on. Not due to this woman in particular, I'm sure MS has a grasp on the type of woman the mother could be, but the responses for other reading who may not 'just be able to pop a pill' and it be done with it!
DeleteWe all have different pain tolerances that is for sure but I personally think it doesn't or shouldn't be a weapon to bring others down. I can formulate a long list of things I have managed to get done under very extenuating situations, but so what? If my Mom had offered to take my kids during anyone of those times damn right I would have taken her up on the offer.
Again, I'm with you as far as this woman appears to be from what MS has said, I'm just shocked and utterly disappointed at the responses that built more negativity as a form of support.
My response to MS actual post:
It must have been disappointing for Sir Steve to hear he lost an opportunity to spend time with his daughter because her mother wasn't up to it and the grandmother stepped in before he had an opportunity. Hopefully the little one had a great grandma one on one time and you 2 made them most of your alone time💕
