Sunday thoughts

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become."
― C.G. Jung.

I really - REALLY - like the above quote......."I am what I choose to become"

I am so tired of listening to folks bemoan their lot in life.  Honestly !!  The father who beats his child - because he was beaten as a child.  The woman who cries "woe's me" because her marriage ended and she is alone.  The people who cry "foul" cause they didn't get the promotion - or the increase - or whatever.

For the most part I have no patience with woe's me types........ no patience at all.  And before you all jump to the conclusion that I have had some fairy tale - happy ever after - life ........ You are wrong.

Lots of bad stuff happened in my life.... LOTS!!  I actually had a therapist tell me once that he was surprised I hadn't been a statistic - teen suicide.  I thought he was nuts..... except I will admit on bad days I do remember the last bit of that statement "You are one very strong lady".

And yeah I guess I am ............

BUT .........

it was by choice.  I could have chosen to wallow in self pity... I could have chosen to say there is nothing I can do because this is what I was handed in the past.. this is what I have had to deal with in my life.

But I didn't.......... I don't.  Cause you know what?? that would mean that all those people who hurt me would win.  And I will NOT allow that to happen EVER !! Life is not easy for anyone - I don't care who you are...... we all have skeletons in our closet and stories of hurt and heart break to tell........

Live in the past if you want..  I chose to shoot for the stars ......... and become what I am today............ and even better tomorrow !

This gets my vote for outstanding post of the year.

I couldnt agree more. There is NO virtue in "being the victim" and most who perpetuate that are in it to use as manipulation for their benefit.

    Well said!

  3. In today's world I was starting to think I was the only one like you.

I've had a hell of a life, but I have never let myself live a "poor me" life. The things I have lived through have shaped me, they have presented me with decisions and choices, and I chose NOT to be a victim.

    Thank you!!

  4. Like you, I choose to shoot for the stars!
No one has a fairy tale life.
    We all have our "skeletons".
It's how we CHOOSE to face, deal with and overcome that matters!

  5. I had never heard this one, and I love it. It is so true, more people should hear and believe it.
