Dreams

i posted an entry about dreams (not fantasies - not sleepy dreams but aspiration dreams) .. and how they are so important... and it rambled long and weary... i erased it. It really did sound too much like a lecture. and i get paid for lecturing.. and i don't get paid to lecture here.. AND.. i am not too sure you come here to be lectured...

Often times we push our "dreams" to the side because we couldn't possibly do THAT.. or because we are afraid... afraid of failure.. afraid of ridicule.. or just plain afraid.

i tell my kiddies at school "shoot for the moon - even if you miss you will land amongst the stars!!"

IF you have ever pushed a dream aside .. because.. just because... Please take five minutes from your day... hit this link... and go watch someone pursuing their dream - despite the fear of failure - despite the fear of ridicule .. despite everything..

"i dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living"

  1. this brought me to tears... just like Paul Potts last year - these average nice people who are given their shot at their dreams- such stupendous talent hidden in normal average packages. I think the most adorable thing is how at the beginning (and as for Paul too) there was the whole bored, eye- rolling ennui - then that woman opens her and mouth and angels sang ....

what I loved BEST was how utterly delighted the stagehands were for her.

  2. That is absolutely one of the most amazing things that I have EVER had the privilege of seeing.

I was getting angry with the audience laughing at her but it was sweet reward when that woman opened her mouth and brought them to their knees. Thank you for sharing!

  3. I avoid those type of shows like the plague and would never have seen that, if you hadn't pointed it out.

    Thank you, that was amazing.

  4. I heard about this on the radio this morning, driving in to school... Thank you for posting the link so I could actually see it for myself.

It is the reminder that we all sometimes need -- dreams are valuable and precious, and we need to nurture and believe in them EVEN when (maybe especially when) others don't share them with us.

  5. I am a puddle of tears now.
    Good on you Susan!
Those people in the audience, and even the judges should be shamed of their initial judgements.

  6. I think we can all be guilty of sometimes judging by appearances. This brought me to tears too....as moments like this so often do. They remind me that sometimes, in order to achieve our dreams, its not only necessary for us to believe in ourselves but for others to believe in us too. For me, that person is M, and I will NEVER be able to repay his belief in me. Because of him, I dare to dream.

    love and hugs xxx

  7. I almost forgot. I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that the stars are further from us than the moon.
