Writing lines?

ok.. i must be on some sort of theme here... from "homework" yesterday to writing lines today................ what can i say "teaching" is just in my blood...

i know there are bloggers out there who blog about alternate lifestyles ....... like BDSM...... and get some nasty emails.. read some nasty posts elsewhere about themselves... i have been lucky enough to fly under the radar.. OR.. i am too stupid to find the ones who criticize me or i just don't read enough blogs........

That all changed in a blink of an eye when i received a "back handed" compliment on a blog i read occasionally. As fate would have it she had just posted a post about kinky blogs she reads .. people on her friend's list.. and there it was .. my blog proudly listed as being on her friend's list.

Nice eh?? warm fuzzies even........ Until i read the bit about the ellipsis i use (which actually means a series of dots to indicate omitted words) huh?? i don't omit words.. sometimes i think i use way too many words.. and i have never shied away from the hard ones.. or the bad ones.. shrug.. i do however use dots to indicate ... ummmmm.. i am not sure what they indicate.. usually that i am taking a breath. Why you ask would i do that?? because when i write my blog .. i write the same way i talk.... usually fast and furious. Whatever the reason .. it is the way i write blogs... and some emails.. shrug.. it is just a part of the more casual me.

And then i read she takes issue with the fact i don't capitalize my "i's"... now that is just a funny little internet protocol that has been grilled into me.. submissives do not capitalize their names or any word referring to themselves.. (it is supposed to help new folks know which side of the fence i stand on... and if you haven't figured it out yet i stand squarely and firmly on the submissive side !!)

i guess i am sorry some people don't accept the way i write as far as my little idiosyncrasies go .. but i am guessing i have enough to say that is substantial (or pornographic or titillating enough) to keep them coming back...

Maybe i should write lines...... something like:
"I promise to always use correct English grammar, punctuation and spelling"

maybe one day when i have very little to say and lots of time to say it in.. i will write a full blog grammatically correct punctuation and spelling perfect..... but till then........ you will just have to ignore the use of dots and small "i's" i guess.......

Wow, that's just amazing that someone can be so critical about blogging for goodness sake! So many people forget that most blogs are first and foremost a personal journal. You write in them whatever suits you, however you'd like to write and with as many incorrect grammatical phrases as you'd like. Most blogs aren't there to entertain anyone else, although reading yours is fantastic. I wouldn't let any of that bother you, it's their problem.

Oh, and in case you didn't know... You're on my blogroll and in my RSS reader too :)

Ok, that's just pathetic. Did it make her feel better to 'correct' yours? ::snicker:: I'd be happy to proof her blog if you'd like. Just post the link.

I am picky about English. I get annoyed when people say "reticent" when they mean "reluctant". My inner ear hears whether it should be "who" or "whom".

But there has never been anything on your blog that in the least has set off a bell foe me.

It's a blog, and the rules are your own. If I found your blog annoying, I wouldn't critique it in an open forum; I would simply not read it.

And as for the I vs i...I get this is a blog about M/s. I get that is part of the culture. It doesn't throw me in the least that you say i. I get it.

Anyhow. You are a good writer in that you lead an interesting life and can articulate about it, in a coherent fashion. This is a personal journal not a lit mag. (But maybe a clit mag!) The rules are different...and you...are doing...FINE!

i want to thank everyone for their support ....... and i was thinking... on the large scale of things... someone pointing out my writing faults is not really THAT big a deal.....

BUT this post was a warning of sorts.. kinda like "this blog is intended for mature audiences" it was a warning... "this blog contains grammatical errors and funny little dots for no reason.. read with caution..

thanks everyone for your words of support...i have no intention of changing the way i write... it is who i am .. or a part of who i am..

    Hi!

i fully understand what you are saying-not saying by using ellipses. They provide the reader a chance to continue the thought or they provide that chance to breathe.

i, too, use them, and when i am writing to Sir or others in the lifestyle, the damn i is always lower case. As you mention, it firmly establishes my position within the lifestyle.

Once i found your blog, i bookmarked it and read it regularly. Thank you for putting your diary/journal/life's tale out here for us to read.

PS: i think everyone is having a 'Grinch' time this year. i bet Christmas eve will find you 'in the moment' and full of joy & happiness. Happy Holidays!

  9. I haven't commented on any of your recent blogs, but I'm still reading! But for some reason, I got it into my head to start at the very beginning. I guess I probably started reading your blog about 5 years ago maybe, jumping into the middle. We are very much alike it so many ways and I guess I just wanted to get to know you better and what better way than to read 17 years worth of posts? Anyway... the reason I'm commenting on this particular post... In my line of work, ellipses are used to indicate a person trailing off mid-thought, changing direction of thought, OR to indicate missing words. So there! As far as I can see, you're using those little dots just fine! And of all places to critique someone's grammar abilities, I think this ain't the right type of blog. Ok. I'm done now.
